What Money Can T Buy Audiobook
It could be more if you have had bad luck with low-quality audiobooks. But shockingly, I have heard from Audible subscribers who said they received an email informing them that the return policy is blocked for them after only one single return!

And in a second step, they stopped offering returns for Audible books purchased with money, e.g., Whispersync deals. Many small audio publishers and self-published authors offer their audiobooks in a cheap Whispersync deal for $7.49 when you buy the audio together with the ebook or after borrowing the ebook through Kindle Unlimited.
In the past, Audible books used to stay in your library after returning them, but this has been fixed. Once you exchange an audiobook, you will get your refund, and the book will disappear from your app.
As I said earlier, only Audible books that you purchased with an Audible credit can be returned. Audiobooks that you bought with money, e.g. during a sales event or in a deal, cannot be returned anymore.
Actually, when you return something from Amazon, the seller loses money also. Like the whole amount of the product (it might depend somewhat what the product is), but that was our experience. Amazon is SO corrupt!
Abridged audiobooks are available as a separate item in the Play Store from the full length version of the audiobook. Double check which version of the audiobook you want to buy before you finalize your purchase.
Spotify wants to be your one-stop platform for listening to music, podcasts, and audiobooks. On September 20, 2022, the service rolled out a new audiobook feature for users in the US, with plans to expand to listeners worldwide.
Audiobooks are a departure from your usual Spotify experience. Instead of ad-supported or subscription-based streaming, you purchase individual audiobooks to stream through the app. Over 300,000 titles are available, including best sellers across genres.
In time, just like Spotify's feed can help you find what to listen to next, you may also be able to discover new audiobooks in addition to music and podcasts. With the addition of audiobooks, Spotify may be one step closer to being your go-to app for audio streaming in the US.
With so many choices, will Spotify do a better job of meeting your listening needs? Do you prefer one of its competitors, like Audible or Apple Books? Finally, your public library and other budget audiobook providers offer additional choices.
Well, listening to an audiobook on a device felt like cheating on a real book. I was also sceptical about being able to get into something that an actor narrates. I saw audiobooks as expensive distractions from the written word.
First, you take out a free 30-day trial of Audible and get a free audiobook. This could be one of the classics or even an Audible original. At the end of your trial, you can buy a monthly subscription of Audible known as Audible Plus or Audible Premium plus. You need to sign up for the membership using your Amazon account.
Each month, Audible awards you with one credit. You can use this credit to purchase Audible audiobooks in different categories including technology, fashion, romance, social media, ads, etc. If you want to buy more books, you can buy more Audible credits or pay per audiobook.
After your Audible 30-day trial expires, it costs $14.95 per month, but you can cancel your subscription at any time. For your monthly subscription fee, you get one credit a month that you can use to buy and keep any audiobook. This is the gold monthly plan.
You can buy individual audiobooks which cost anywhere between $10 and $25. For example, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson is currently an Audible best-seller, and it costs $23.95, at the time of writing.
However, a credit costs approximately $14.95. That means you can save $9. Similarly, if you plan on listening to more than one audiobook, a monthly subscription to this audiobook service is more cost-effective.
I particularly like that you can slow down or speed up the play-speed of each audiobook. For readers (or listeners) who want to immerse themselves in a story when listening to audiobooks, this is a welcome feature.
Typically, it works out cheaper for me to buy membership credits as some audiobooks cost upwards of EUR20/USD20. Audible also regularly offers promotions and deals for members (who pay a recurring membership fee) whereby you can pick up classics for as little as 99 cents.
I use Audible for listening to audiobooks while out for a walk or run using the iPhone app. Later that night when I pick up my Kindle Oasis, it automatically finds my place in the book in question so I can continue reading.
I browsed the audiobook user reviews and downloaded the audio version of Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk and Accidental Genius by Mark Levy for free. Then, I spent the next 30 days listening to these books to figure out if this audiobook service was worth it.
I did this because I buy Kindle books off the US store and Whispersync only works if buy both the book and audiobook from the same regional Amazon and Audible stores. I also wanted to browse the US library for other good books, as it has a wider selection than the UK library. New releases sometimes appear first on the US library too.
Audible is my favourite way of making the most of my time while commuting, exercising and travelling. If you want to take out an Audible 30-day trial, you get a free book. If you want to try Audible and need some book recommendations, Get this list of great audiobooks.
First, understand the contract with your publisher. Are they producing the audiobook, or licensing it to another publisher? Either way, add language into your agreement that requires your audiobook to be sold through independent bookstores and made available through libraries.
Thanks for sharing, Troy! We hope that readers will continue to educate themselves on the impact their purchasing decisions make on the book and audiobook industry, so we can all work together to make change.
The difference so far is that most U.S. movies and a lot of US and British TV series are available at your public library as a DVD or through your library electronic holds. Not so with the exclusive amazon audiobooks. So far it sounds like they will never allow public libraries to pay them so those audiobooks are available to folks that can not afford $180 dollars a year for the privilege. It is reasonable to ask Amazon to change that policy (and they, of course, would get paid for library use so that is not the holdup)
When you suggest that we switch from Audible to Libra, does that mean that I can only get a Libra account if I close down my Audible account? I am happy to support my local bookstore, but I would also still like to have access to some Audible titles, especially if they are Audible Exclusives. Thank you. I actually get most of my audiobooks through my regional libraries, but Audible is useful if I need a title in a hurry for a book club.
Hi, Paul. Thank you for your feedback. While we are unaware of any current legal proceedings to this effect, we do champion accessibility for audiobooks and their listeners. Thanks for your support, and for joining the conversation.
Thank you for alerting me to this disturbing phenomenon. I got Born a Crime a few years ago from a free sign-up offer on Audible, and it is my favorite audiobook ever. I had no idea how lucky I was. Is there a good way to contact Trevor Noah about it? I assume he is aware.
Thanks for commenting, Brian! We firmly believe that audiobooks and the knowledge and perspectives they contain should be accessible to a wide audience, including bookstore and library patrons. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
Listening to audiobooks is a great way to keep up with the most recent releases while not having to commit to sitting down with a physical book. Now, Spotify has added audiobooks to the mix of its offerings alongside music and podcasts, opening the door for subscribers to ditch other audiobook players in favor of sticking with one app for all of their audio needs.
Unfortunately, Spotify's integration of its audiobooks with the rest of its content leaves a little to be desired. Audiobooks are already fully integrated into the app, but since Spotify doesn't make much of an effort to distinguish different types of content, it can be a little tricky to find them amongst the sea of music and podcasts that the app also offers.
Finding audiobooks on Spotify is pretty easy as long as you know where to look. Unlike music and podcasts, Spotify's audiobooks aren't free, so you'll need to pay up before you can start listening. Bizarrely enough, you aren't able to purchase audiobooks directly through the app, so you'll need to have a computer nearby to buy and activate them for your account.
Step 3: If you have a specific audiobook in mind, search for it using the search bar at the top of the screen. Skip to step 6 once you've found and selected the book you're looking for. If you're looking to discover new audiobooks, continue to the next step.
Note: When selecting an audiobook, sometimes they'll be listed as podcasts. Although that's certainly confusing, you should be able to tell the difference quickly, as podcasts are able to be played for free, while audiobooks that you haven't purchased will be locked until you buy them.
Step 5: In the Audiobook section of the Spotify app, you'll be able to discover new books based on curated lists. Like music and podcasts, different audiobooks will be grouped together here based on shared attributes such as topic or author. Find an audiobook that you want to listen to and select it.
Step 6: Once you have an audiobook selected, you'll see that it's broken into discrete sections, usually by chapter, allowing you to start listening at whatever point you like. Chapters are listed similarly to the individual episodes of a podcast on the app. You'll be able to listen to a short sample of the audiobook for free by selecting the Sample bar that stretches across the screen horizontally underneath the audiobook description. If you want access to the entire thing, select the green Play button with the lock on the right side of the screen. 041b061a72
